Biography
Jacob Forever (real name: Yosdani Jacob Carmenates), also known as "El Inmortal" (The Immortal), is a prominent Cuban reggaeton singer born December 21, 1981, in Camagüey, Cuba. With over two decades of artistic career, he has established himself as one of the most prominent figures in Cuban and Latin American urban music.
His career began unusually at age 17 as a roller skater for the Salsa Mulata dance company, where he sang and danced on roller skates paying tribute to groups like N'Sync and Backstreet Boys. This experience took him to Spain, where he stayed for a year before returning to Cuba and founding the group Made in Cuba at age 20, of which he was director, singer, and composer.
In 2005, Jacob joined the legendary group Gente de Zona alongside Alexander Delgado and producer Nando Pro, where he remained for 8 years achieving national and international fame. He was composer and singer of acclaimed albums like "Lo Mejor Que Suena Ahora Vol. 1 & 2", with songs like "Le Gusta Los Artistas", "El Animal", "Soñé", and "La Campaña" that topped charts in Cuba, Miami, and Europe. During this period, he collaborated with artists like Orishas, La Charanga Habanera, and El Micha, winning a Premio Lucas.
In 2013, after Gente de Zona's separation, Jacob embarked on his solo career forming Los Inmortales with El Dany and Nando Pro. His albums "Más Duro" (2014) and "Son Muchas Cosas" consolidated his success.
The turning point in his career came in 2015 with the release of "Hasta Que Se Seque El Malecón" (Until the Malecón Dries Up), included in his album "El Inmortal". This song became a generational anthem with nearly 78 million YouTube views, catapulting him to international fame. It was followed by "La Dura" (also from 2015), and in 2017 he participated in the remix of "Súbeme La Radio" with Enrique Iglesias and Descemer Bueno, achieving 4 Platinum Records.
Jacob has resided in Miami for over 7 years, where he obtained U.S. citizenship in 2023. He is married to Diliamne Jouve González, known as "La Dura", with whom he has a daughter named Saisha. Additionally, he has two children from previous relationships.
The artist has been vocal about his political stance, publicly declaring he will not return to Cuba while the communist regime exists. Instead, he reunites with his family (his mother and grandmother who live in Camagüey) in neutral destinations like Punta Cana and Cancun.
Recent collaborations include "La Ex" (with Dany Ome, Kevincito El 13, Wampi, and El Chulo), "Mi Prioridad", and "Muñequita de Cristal". He is currently touring with Gente de Zona celebrating the duo's 25th anniversary. With a style combining reggaeton, bachata, and romantic urban music, Jacob Forever continues to be a relevant figure on the international Latin scene.
